Most wouldn’t have noticed but in the PC Trilly Discord a fan took a closer look at a clip of Leonardo Marangon shooting a three. In the background of the clip a video board with an unfamiliar name the search for Derek Simpson was on.
Sure enough first team all-A10 guard Derek Simpson is indeed with the Friars program as practice for the upcoming season is underway.
Simpson, who originally started at Rutgers, spent the last two seasons with the St. Joe’s Hawks. This past season the 6-3 guard 13.8 ppg, 5.3 roc 5.2 apg.
Simpson is currently seeking a 5th year of eligibility as a member of the high school graduating class of 2022. With the eligibility limbo across the country it seems we will have to see if Simpson ever suits up for PC. If he were the Friars have added another piece on what appears to be a very good roster in Bryan Hodgson’s first season.
