On Tuesday 2024 point guard Del Jones released his top-8 schools that he is considering and Providence was one of them. Jones, from Arlington, VA and Compass Prep (AZ), is also considering Ole Miss, Tennessee, Oregon, West Virginia, Texas A&M, Clemson, and Arizona St.
At 6-1 Jones has long arms and a college ready frame. He does a great job breaking down a defense, penetrating the paint, and either scoring or dishing to an open man. He’s also known as an improved shooter and good defensively as well.
He has made an unofficial at Tennessee and so far word yet on his plans for official visits but with no cap on OVs anymore you’d have to imagine he’d visit the majority of schools involved. While the competition for his commitment is stiff Kim English and staff are clearly showing a priority of getting guards and big men for the class of 2024. We will continue to follow his recruitment at the Crier.
We need a really good big man – I’m talking 6’11 ish not another guard. I’m starting to become doubtful of where our recruiting efforts are taking us next season!
