Ed Crosswell Receives Waiver- Will Suit Up for the Friars

LaSalle transfer Ed Crosswell received a waiver for immediately eligibility and will play for the Friars this season. Web. The 6-8 245 big man selected the Friars back in April it was assumed he wouldn’t pursue a waiver for this season and use it as a redshirt year. Well something must’ve changed in those seven months and with the NCAA giving out waivers like hot cakes it makes sense.

Crosswell will add instant depth in the frontcourt and would be a super sub for Nate Watson. One skill set that Ed seems to have over Nate is his rebounding ability, as he ranked 3rd in the nation last season in offensive rebound percentage. It also allows Cooley to play bigger lineups and maybe put Watson and Crosswell in at the same time. I think a lot of Friar fans will be relieved that we don’t need to get as concerned when the inevitability of Watson’s foul trouble come into play in a game.

Remember in the film MacGruber when he assembles his team?

That is exactly how the Crier feels about this news. We finally got a full complete team together. This roster really has an influx of talent. With Goodine and Croswell getting waivers we have the depth needed both in the frontcourt and backcourt. It will be interesting to see how quick they can adjust because unlike Bynum and Horchler they don’t have the benefit of playing with the team for a long time. Regardless it appears a assembled a really formidable squad that can pick off right where last years team left off.
