Former Friar Ricky Council II has decided to transfer to the University of Maryland- Baltimore County, as confirmed by ESPN’s Jeff Goodman. The rising junior guard average .5 ppg and .5 rpg and recorded only 1 assist in his two-year career at PC. This news is coming off the heels of Ryan Fazekas’ decision to transfer to Valparaiso earlier in the week (As Kyron Cartwright would say, “Thanks for the update bro”). Both players would seem to see a big rise in minutes at UMBC and Valpo respectively, once they are eligible.
RCII and Fazekas decided to transfer back in late March and it opened up two scholarships for the Friars. Ed Cooley and company wasted little time using one of those scholarships by landing former UConn commit Makai Ashton-Langford. It should be interesting to see which direction Cooley goes with the remaining scholarship. Cooley could give it to walk-on Tom Planek or use it on an incoming freshman, a transfer or a grad transfer. We should have more of an idea once we get a decision on Rodney Bullock’s NBA Draft status. Stay Tuned Friartown!
