Providence starts its holiday tournament in a clash of undefeated teams, taking on 4-0 Northwestern. The Friars are playing their tournament not in Maui, not in Florida, not even in Charleston, but in the tropical urban area of Newark, NJ. Beggars can’t be choosers, I guess.

Second Half Run Propels Providence to Win over UNH Wildcats 69-58

The Crier and I feared a hangover game may transpire against the University of New Hampshire. It turns out that this UNH team is simply a good basketball team and threw enough counter punches to stay competitive throughout the duration of the game. Providence used a second half surge to pull away and remain undefeated heading into next week’s Legends Classic.

Providence Looks to Start a Winning Streak – PC vs. Sacred Heart Game Preview

Providence looks to start the season 2-0 after a close victory against Fairfield. Sacred Heart is 1-0 on the season after beating LaSalle 86-81 in overtime in their season opener.

Takeaways from “Secret” Scrimmage against Purdue

Earlier today, Providence hosted #7 Purdue in a preseason scrimmage. While we weren’t able to attend said scrimmage (maybe…just maybe…one day), the detailed box score was released, along with a few clips from the Providence Basketball social media account.

Providence defeated Purdue 89-88 in overtime. While it is noteworthy to mention that players couldn’t foul out (more on that in a bit), Friar fans can walk away from this game knowing they have the ability to compete with the best teams in the nation. Make no mistake about it, Purdue has the pieces to be a Final Four type squad.

Big East Preview from the Providence Crier Staff
