Thoughts From a Week that Was in College Hoops

  • Technically Grayson Allen was reinstated two weeks ago but Duke’s junior guard was back in the news again for shoving  an  FSU assistant coach during their loss to the Seminoles on Tuesday. The intent of the shove is debatable but what shouldn’t be a debate is the fact that him being suspended only one game was a joke. I don’t know about you but when I hear “suspended indefinitely” I think that it’s more then one game. Any other coach would’ve got slammed for the decision but apparently Coach K gets a pass.

Game Preview- Seton Hall vs. Friars 1/14/17 12pm EST on FSN

Still feeling the after effects of Providence’s crushing defeat at DePaul on Tuesday, I thought about waiting until Friday night to write Saturday’s preview. Then I realized you all probably need something to read on a Friday at work, so felt like it was my duty to get this done tonight. I just don’t understand why Bullock and Holt were handling the ball during the press break. NO! I TOLD MYSELF I WOULDN’T GET INTO THE DEPAUL GAME IN THE PREVIEW. The Providence College Friars are back in action Tuesday night and will try to get their first road win of the season, as they square off with DePaul in Rosemont, IL. Typically a trip to DePaul is exactly what a team looking for their first road win would want however that may not be the case come Tuesday. The main reason being the injury to Kyron Cartwright’s knee, which limited him to only 12 minutes of action on Saturday. Coach Cooley said over the weekend that there was a 50/50 chance that Cartwright would suit up tomorrow. On top of all that there are rumblings on the Twittersphere that Jalen Lindsey could be questionable as well with a thumb injury. If those two were both held out of the lineup tomorrow it could be catastrophic for the Friars’ chances of leaving the Allstate Arena with a W, especially considering depth issues at the guard position. It’s getting late but if I don’t get to the preview now it’s not happening tomorrow before tipoff, let’s just be honest with ourselves. So the  #10/#10 Creighton Jays come to town tomorrow afternoon at the Dunk for a 2pm tipoff. I will be battling the impending elements and making my way to the Dunk for the contest. Happy B-Day LeDontae Henton!

A quick Happy Birthday shout out to Friar great LaDontae Henton, who turned twenty-five today. No, I will not be wishing every Friar player a happy birthday on this blog but Henton deserves some recognition here. LaDontae came to PC my senior year and his impact on the court towards rebuilding the program cannot be understated. Continue reading “Happy B-Day LeDontae Henton!”
